DÔEN Reviews: Fit Guide for the Most Popular Styles
Because I own them all anyways...
While my style has evolved throughout the years, one brand has been consistently in my closet for the better part of a decade: DÔEN. The effortless California label is feminine and feels vintage in all the right ways. Its pieces somehow manage to be romantic without feeling overly precious, and trend-forward without chasing trends. Whether it’s a breezy floral dress, a perfectly worn-in blouse, or an easy knit that goes with everything, DÔEN has a way of creating clothes that feel timeless from the moment you put them on.
What is DÔEN?
Founded by sisters Margaret and Katherine Kleveland in 2016, DÔEN has become one of the most recognizable names in modern fashion thanks to its laid-back California aesthetic and vintage-inspired silhouettes.
The brand draws inspiration from coastal living, heirloom details, and classic womenswear, resulting in collections filled with delicate prints, soft fabrics, thoughtful embroidery, and effortlessly wearable shapes. While DÔEN is perhaps best known for its dreamy dresses, its lineup also includes tops, denim, knitwear, outerwear, shoes, and accessories designed to become long-term staples rather than seasonal purchases.
Beloved by celebrities like Taylor Swift and Bella Hadid, the brand has built a devoted following among shoppers looking for pieces that feel elevated yet easy to wear.
Where to Buy DÔEN
Along with their own website, the brand is also available on a variety of third-party sites, including:
Along with current items, some of the sites will occasionally offer popular styles in prints that aren’t offered on the direct DÔEN website. They can also be more convenient to shop from due to sales and promotions, as well as cheaper shipping (DÔEN’s shipping is not cheap if you’re under the $500 threshold for free shipping).
DÔEN Sales
There’s no denying DÔEN has a hefty price tag, one that has only gone up over the years, thanks to its popularity and the general cost of manufacturing (thanks, tariffs!). With that being said, DÔEN hosts about four sales a year where you can get pieces for a pretty significant markdown.
Snow Day Sale (Up to 50% Off Select Full Price Pieces) - January (ran from January 9 to January 12, 2026)
Mother’s Day Sale (Up to 50% Off Select Full Price Pieces) - May (ran from May 6 to May 10, 2026)
Online Warehouse Sale (Up to 70% Off Past Season Pieces) - July
Giving Thanks Sale (Up to 70% Off Fall Pieces) - Near Back Friday (ran November 24th, 2025 through December 2nd, 2025)
Now, these sales are popular, with people logging on right when they go live and selling out quickly. If there are pieces you’ve had your eye on, it can be worth having a list handy and ready to go as soon as the sale goes live.
Along with sales on the DÔEN, it’s worth keeping an eye for sales on third-party sites. Nordstrom, Saks, and Net-a-Porter, in particular, can be great resources for finding deeper discounts on past seasons.
Nordstrom is also fantastic at price matching, so if you find an item that is on sale on the DÔEN site, check with Nordstrom if you can price match, so you can get the better price, but with the option of returning it if it doesn’t work.
Hand-Me-DÔEN
Along with their sales, you also have the opportunity a few times a year to shop others’ pre-owned DÔEN with Hand-Me-DÔEN. About four times per year, the brand will open up its own pre-owned shop of Hand-Me-DÔEN, with marked-down, secondhand pieces.
You also have the opportunity to send in your own pieces for Hand-Me-DÔEN, receiving credit to shop on the DÔEN website and early access to the Hand-Me-DÔEN sale in exchange.
In all honesty, I am not the biggest fan of Hand-Me-DÔEN. Typically, the pieces are not at a great discount, and it’s easier to shop secondhand on sites like Poshmark or through Facebook BST groups.
Also, and this is my biggest gripe - when you send in your own items to sell with Hand-Me-DÔEN, you are not guaranteed to get credit or receive your item back. If they mark your item as not acceptable for sale, you’ll receive no credit, and they won’t mail the item back to you. So if you’re buying or selling, do so with some caution.
DÔEN x Gap Collaborations: Worth It?
For years, one of the biggest barriers to trying DÔEN has been the price. As much as I love the brand, spending $300-plus on a dress isn’t always realistic. That’s part of why the DÔEN x Gap collaborations have been so exciting.
The partnership first launched in 2024 and was an immediate hit, combining DÔEN’s signature vintage-inspired femininity with Gap’s classic American basics and much more accessible pricing. The original collection included 51 pieces spanning womenswear, kids’ clothing, baby styles, denim, dresses, and accessories, with most items priced well below DÔEN’s standard collection.
Following the success of that first launch, the brands teamed up again in 2025 with a second collection featuring 38 pieces. The collaboration expanded beyond women’s and children’s clothing for the first time, introducing menswear while continuing to focus on the floral prints, eyelet details, easy dresses, and nostalgic California aesthetic that DÔEN fans love.
I’ve purchased several pieces from the collaborations over the years, and my overall takeaway is that they’re absolutely worth shopping—as long as you go in with the right expectations.
The pieces feel distinctly DÔEN. The romantic prints, vintage-inspired silhouettes, puff sleeves, embroidery, and feminine details are all there. If you’ve admired the brand from afar, the collaborations offer a much more approachable way to try the aesthetic without committing to full-price DÔEN.
That said, the quality isn’t identical to the main collection. The fabrics tend to be less substantial, and some pieces feel more Gap than DÔEN once you get them in hand. That’s not necessarily a bad thing—it just means you’re getting a collaboration rather than a true DÔEN piece at a discount.
Where the collections really shine is with dresses, children’s clothing, and some of the denim. Those pieces tend to capture the magic of DÔEN particularly well while still feeling like a good value for the price.
One thing I’ve learned quickly: if you see something you love, don’t wait. Both collections sold extremely quickly, and many of the most popular styles disappeared within days of launching. Even now, years later, certain pieces still have a cult following on resale sites and DÔEN Facebook groups.
DÔEN Reviews: The Most Popular Pieces
One of the reasons DÔEN has developed such a devoted following is that certain styles return season after season. While the brand releases new prints and silhouettes each collection, there are a handful of pieces that have become true DÔEN signatures; styles you’ll see repeatedly recommended by fashion editors, influencers, and longtime customers.
Over the decade, I’ve worn quite a few of them and, though my sizing has evolved over the years, I can speak to what you can expect from quite a few.
For fit details, I’m currently 5’ 2” and wear a size 2-4. My typical DÔEN fit is a small, but that can vary based on style. I’ll also note that some pictures on here are older, so my sizing varied from a medium to a large when I was pregnant and postpartum. I’ll note in each description!
DÔEN Spring and Summer Styles
Ischia Dress
If there’s one DÔEN dress that perfectly captures the brand’s aesthetic, it’s the Ischia. Featuring a smocked bodice, romantic puff sleeves, and a flowing full-length skirt, it feels vintage-inspired without looking costume-like. It’s the type of dress that works just as well for a vacation, baby shower, family photos, or a regular Tuesday when you want to feel a little more put together.
In my experience, the Ischia generally fits true to size, though the elasticized bodice provides a lot of flexibility. I’m wearing a size small, and at 5’2” it’s a true maxi dress on me. Taller shoppers may find it hits closer to ankle length, while petites should expect a full-length silhouette.
One thing worth noting is that not all Ischia dresses are created equal. Depending on the season and print, you’ll find versions made from cotton voile, organic cotton, or cotton poplin. The fabric dramatically changes how the dress wears. Cotton voile versions feel airy and lightweight but can be slightly sheer, while poplin styles offer more structure and coverage. It’s worth checking the fabric details before purchasing, especially if opacity is important to you.
As a mom, I also appreciate that the smocked bodice makes this one surprisingly breastfeeding-friendly.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Very flexible due to the tie, but I typically stick with my true size small.
Quinn Dress
The Quinn Dress is one of DÔEN’s easiest everyday pieces. With its relaxed fit, clean lines, and understated design, it feels a bit less overtly romantic than some of the brand’s more recognizable styles while still maintaining that effortless California feel.
I find the Quinn runs true to size, though if you’re between sizes, you can likely size down. The fit is intentionally relaxed, so sizing down doesn’t typically compromise comfort. It can also depend on the fabric style - I’m a much bigger fan of the cotton versus cotton poplin that the mainstay colors come in.
One of my favorite things about the Quinn is its length. At 5’2”, many midi dresses end up looking awkwardly long on me, but the Quinn hits at a really flattering spot without overwhelming my frame. It’s one of those dresses I can throw on with sandals, sneakers, or clogs and immediately feel put together.
My only complaint is the keyhole neckline. While it’s a pretty detail, I’ve found it can occasionally shift or sit in a way that feels a little fussy. I’ve actually had mine stitched closed by a tailor, which was a quick and inexpensive alteration that made me reach for the dress even more often.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Fits a bit big; if you’re between sizes, you can likely go down one.
Emmaretta Dress
The Emmaretta feels like summer in dress form. Featuring delicate ruffle straps, a smocked bodice, and a flowing skirt, it’s one of DÔEN’s most effortless warm-weather styles.
This is the dress I reach for when I want something easy but still pretty. The lightweight fabric and comfortable fit make it ideal for hot days, whether you’re heading to brunch, walking through a farmers market, or packing for vacation.
Like many DÔEN dresses, the smocking provides plenty of flexibility through the bodice, making it comfortable even during long days of wear. The overall silhouette feels relaxed and unfussy while still having the feminine details that make the brand so recognizable.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Pretty true to size, but I typically size down to XS because I’m short and it has longer straps.
Ashlynn Dress
If the puff sleeves on the Ischia feel a little too Masterpiece Theatre for your taste, the Ashlynn is its cooler, slightly more modern cousin. It has many of the same elements that make the Ischia so beloved (a smocked bodice, romantic silhouette, and easy wearability) but the caps sleeves give it a more contemporary feel.
This is also the dress that recently made headlines when Taylor Swift wore it, showing just how versatile the design can be. The elasticized neckline allows you to wear it either on or off the shoulder, depending on the look you’re after.
Like the Ischia, sizing is fairly forgiving thanks to the smocking. I stick with my usual size small, though I wouldn’t personally size down. The bodice runs a bit shorter than some other DÔEN dresses, and sizing down could make the neckline feel more revealing than intended.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: I wear my true size.
Stanza Dress
The Stanza is easily one of my favorite dresses DÔEN has ever made. If you’ve looked at the Bijou Dress before but weren’t sold on the noodle sleeves, consider this the answer. It has a similar romantic, vintage-inspired feel but with cap sleeves instead.
I’ve owned a blue-and-white version for at least five years now, and it’s one of those rare pieces that I still reach for constantly. The smocked bodice provides plenty of flexibility, but I’ve always purchased my true size and been happy with the fit.
What I love most is how adaptable it has been throughout different seasons of life. I’ve worn it during pregnancy, postpartum, and everything in between, and it has worked beautifully through all of it. If I had to narrow my DÔEN collection down to a handful of dresses, the Stanza would absolutely make the cut.
Where to Shop: Poshmark, (hopefully Summer II?)
TL;DR Fit Check: Very flexible due to elastic, but I wear my true size.
Julia Dress
The Julia is one of DÔEN’s most playful silhouettes. It’s a mini dress with a wide elasticized neckline that can be worn on or off the shoulders, giving it a relaxed, slightly romantic feel.
As a mom, I wear bike shorts under virtually every mini dress because my children have no regard for preserving my dignity, so the shorter length doesn’t bother me. That said, taller shoppers should definitely pay attention to measurements, as this is one of the shorter dresses in the DÔEN lineup.
One thing I've noticed is that sizing can vary quite a bit depending on the print and fabrication. In my gingham Julia, I actually sized down to an XS. Meanwhile, the Dahlia Floral fit much more true to size and had a noticeably narrower neckline. If you're shopping secondhand or considering multiple colorways, don't assume they'll fit identically.
Where to Shop: DOEN, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Can really depend on the print - I’ve had different fits for different prints. For the gingham, I sized down to an XS.
Nessie Dress
I went back and forth on whether to keep the Nessie, but ultimately, I’m so glad I did.
The print is one of my favorite DÔEN has ever released, and that’s what initially drew me in. The silhouette itself is relatively simple, but that’s actually part of its appeal. It’s the kind of dress I can throw on over bike shorts and wear all summer long without thinking too hard about it.
I purchased my usual size small and have been happy with the fit. At 5’2”, the length feels completely reasonable on me, but I do think taller shoppers may find it runs a bit short.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: True to size, but may want to look into a size up for length if you’re tall.
Quilla Dress
The Quilla wasn’t even on my radar when I was browsing online, but everything changed once I saw it in person at the New York store.
The silhouette is flattering, easy to wear, and feels polished without being fussy. My only complaint is the keyhole detail, which is a recurring issue for me with DÔEN styles. Like my Quinn Dress, I ended up sewing the keyhole closed. Once I did, it quickly became one of those dresses I know I’ll wear constantly during warmer months.
Where to Shop: Coming in Summer Chapter II!
TL;DR Fit Check: Fits a bit big; if you’re between sizes, you can likely go down one.
Benoit Dress
I wanted to love the Benoit Dress.
After missing out on a previous version, I was genuinely excited to finally try this print. The pattern itself is beautiful and exactly what drew me in. Unfortunately, the fit and fabric were major disappointments.
While the small technically fit, the bodice felt so tight that I constantly worried about spilling out of the top. Even more surprising was the fabric. It was incredibly thin—so thin that it reminded me of pieces I’ve purchased from fast-fashion retailers over the years. That’s a difficult comparison to ignore when you’re paying DÔEN prices.
I had very high expectations for this one, but unfortunately, it ended up being one of the brand’s biggest misses for me.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Runs small with zero flexibility - if between sizes at all, go up. If you have a larger chest, also consider going up a size.
Traveler Top
It's taken me until my mid-30s to willingly wear a crop top, which still feels a little shocking to type. But the Traveler Top is just that good.
The silhouette is relaxed, airy, and perfectly proportioned to pair with high-waisted shorts, jeans, or skirts. Before ordering, I debated sizing up for a little extra length, but I'm glad I stuck with my usual small. The fit is intentionally loose, and sizing up would have overwhelmed the shape.
Is it expensive for what is essentially a simple cotton top? Absolutely. I wish it cost about $50 less. But it's also one of those pieces that I throw on constantly because it makes getting dressed incredibly easy.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Nordstrom, St. Bernard
TL;DR Fit Check: Can really depend on the print - I’ve had different fits for different prints. For the black, the S was perfect, but for the gingham, I should have sized down to XS.
Nera Top
The Nera is one of the few DÔEN purchases I’ve gone back and forth on over the years.
I absolutely love the print—it matches my Nessie Dress and remains one of my favorite prints the brand has ever produced. The design itself is also lovely, with just the right balance of femininity and ease.
My biggest mistake was sizing up. I worried that my usual size small would feel too cropped, so I ordered a larger size. Looking back, I wish I had trusted the intended fit and stuck with my normal size. The extra room changed the proportions more than I expected and ultimately made me wear it less often.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, St. Bernard, Saks Fifth Avenue
TL;DR Fit Check: True to size - because of the length, I sized up and regretted it.
Henri Top
The Henri is a true DÔEN classic. My kids refer to it as my “pirate shirt,” which honestly isn’t entirely inaccurate. The ruffled collar and romantic details give it a slightly old-world feel, but in a way that still feels modern and wearable.
This is the blouse I throw on with jeans when I want to feel like a functioning adult. That sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. It instantly makes an outfit feel more polished without requiring any effort.
The biggest thing to know is that sizing can be surprisingly inconsistent between fabrics and colors. My black and white versions fit true to size, while some seasonal colors have run noticeably larger, allowing me to size down to an XS.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Nordstrom, St. Bernard
TL;DR Fit Check: Can really depend on the print - I’ve had different fits for different prints. I go between my true size and sizing down one.
June Top
The June Top is one of those rare purchases that proves its value year after year.
It was one of the first DÔEN pieces I ever bought, and I still pull it out every single summer. The silhouette is timeless, easy to style, and feels just as relevant now as it did when I purchased it.
DÔEN regularly releases the June in new prints and fabrics, which keeps the style feeling fresh while maintaining the same beloved shape. If you’re looking for a piece you’ll still be reaching for five or ten years from now, this is one of the safest bets in the entire collection.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Net-a-Porter, Saks Fifth Avenue
TL;DR Fit Check: Fit is purposefully oversized, so I typically wear my true size.
Clea Dress
The Clea was one of those dresses I wasn’t completely sure about when I ordered it, but it quickly won me over once I tried it on.
The print feels incredibly vintage in the best possible way, and the silhouette strikes a nice balance between casual and dressed up. One of my favorite details is the neckline and shoulder design. The straps can be worn on or off the shoulders, but unlike some similar styles, they never feel like they’re constantly slipping down or needing adjustment.
My biggest complaint is the fabric’s sheerness. Nude undergarments make it workable for me, but at this price point, I do wish it offered a bit more coverage. That said, the unique print and beautiful design ultimately convinced me to keep it.
Where to Shop: DOEN, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: True to size, but zero flexibility because of zipper and no elastic - if between sizes, order size up.
Georgiana Dress
The Georgiana is undeniably a splurge, but if you happen to spot it on sale, I wholeheartedly recommend taking a look.
This dress feels incredibly romantic and delicate. There’s something about it that reminds me of Rose’s nightgown from Titanic, which was honestly one of the most formative fashion moments of my childhood. Wearing it makes me feel slightly like I’m starring in my own period drama.
That said, there are a few things to know before purchasing. First, it’s completely sheer and requires a slip underneath. I ended up buying an inexpensive one on Amazon, which solved the problem easily enough.
Second, I’d recommend sticking with your true size. I initially bought a small, then convinced myself I needed more room and exchanged it for a medium. While the medium is perfectly wearable, I regret sizing up and would choose my regular size if I could do it again.
Where to Shop: DOEN
TL;DR Fit Check: True to size, but no flexibility because there’s no elastic - if between sizes, consider the size up.
DÔEN Fall and Winter Styles
Pascual Jacket
The Pascual is one of those pieces that looks intentionally oversized online, but it’s even larger in person. I would confidently recommend sizing down at least one full size, and petites may even prefer going down two sizes, depending on their desired fit.
That said, the oversized silhouette is part of the appeal. It layers beautifully over sweaters and dresses and has that effortless borrowed-from-the-boys feel that works particularly well during fall and winter.
For reference, at 5’2”, I found the proportions quite generous, even compared to other oversized jackets I own.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: Fits absolutely huge, definitely size down at least one (I could potentially size down two due to my height).
Bijou Dress
The Bijou remains one of my favorite DÔEN silhouettes, and this particular print may be my favorite version they’ve ever released.
The fabric has enough weight to feel substantial while still working beautifully across multiple seasons. It’s a dress that transitions effortlessly from spring to summer and into fall with a sweater layered on top.
I originally purchased mine while pregnant and wore a medium at nine months along. Looking back, I would absolutely buy my regular size small (or possibly even an XS) today. The style already has a relaxed fit, so I don’t think most shoppers need to size up unless they’re specifically looking for extra room.
Where to Shop: DÔEN, Net-a-Porter
TL;DR Fit Check: I typically stick with my true size, because even though the elastic bodice is flexible, the arm elastic can feel tight.
